Busy, Busy, Busy

I know... it's been so long since I last posted! A lot's been going on lately. Here's my list:

*Shelby's Art Camp

Shelby participated in Art Camp a few of weeks ago. She had so much fun creating new things each day that went a long with a theme. She's very creative and uses her imagination so this was right down her alley.

*V. B. S.

Our church had V.B.S. a couple of weeks ago. The theme was Crocodile Doc. The kids learned that , 1. God is with us, 2. God is powerful, 3. God does what He says He will do, 4. God cares for us.

*Hereford, TX

My Mom, the girls and I went to Hereford to visit my Grandad, Aunt, Uncle, and cousins. It was fun! On the way back home I got to meet up with a very dear friend of mine. We haven't seen each other since high school. It was so good to give her a great big hug and watch our girls play together!

*MOMents

Our church started a new Women's Ministry called MOMents (emphasis on MOM) since we no longer have a MOPS (Mother of Preschoolers) group anymore. We had our first informational meeting last week. The group was started so that moms of all ages who have kids of all ages could come together and fellowship. We'll have speakers sometimes but mainly it's another way for moms to talk with other moms and encourage and uplift. I think it's going to be a really good thing!

*Bathroom Remodeling

We've been slowly but surely working on our Master Bathroom. We took it down to this:

We've replaced a BIG weak spot in the floor, moved a drain for the new corner shower, put in a new vent/fan, closed in a window, worked with our very old plumbing...(When I say we, it was mostly Adam and his Dad! I'm so not good at that stuff!) We need to have some electrical work down so we can actually hook up the vent/fan and lights, then we can have the dry wall put up and texture on, toilet and sink in and then shower installed. Painting will be next. I'm either going to paint it chocolate brown or blue. I'm not sure yet. Either will go with the bedroom. We will put new flooring in and then have to finish the trim! Whew. We've been working on this a very long time but Adam and I have come to the conclusion that in the future when it comes to major projects we just might hire someone to do them! I'm REALLY proud of Adam though. He used to say that he was NOT a handyman but I don't agree. He may not be able to just go in a do something, but if he reads up on it, he does it! He's a smarty! Needless to say, we will be soooo glad to have our bathroom back!!

*Gymnastics, Swimming and Piano Lessons

Shelby will finish up her last gymnastics lesson of the summer tonight. She won't go back to that until September.

Today was her second day of swimming lessons. She actually got to jump off of the diving board today! She said she was scared at first but after that she had so much fun! She jumped off FIVE times and swam back all by herself! I was so proud and NERVOUS!

Next week she starts piano lessons. The lady that we wanted Shelby to take them from finally had an opening. I'm so excited for her to learn. Hopefully I can remember enough to help her out. Maybe I'll start practicing again since we will have the keyboard out all the time...

Still Hungry

I had to catch this sweet moment on video! Adam was reading one of Bethany's most favorite books, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, and Bethany was filling in the words! It was the cutest thing!

He Said She Said

My hubby Adam just started a new blog entitled Adam Bomb (which is his term of endearment for his 1996 Ford Taurus) to tell of his experiences and share funny stories. From time to time I may write of the same experience. So as the famous radio commentary Paul Harvey used to say, you will then know "the rest of the story!"

What?!?!?!?!

Shelby, six, just came in from playing outside with a friend and this was the conversation:

Shel: Mommy, if I clean my room can you give me a crisp $10 bill?
Me: What?
Shel: Well, my friend said if she helps clean her house she gets $5.

Ok, not only is she just going to clean her room but she wants $5 more than what her friend gets for helping clean the whole house!

The answer to her question was no. Reason being, when she gets older she's going to have to do it without pay anyway so she better just get used to it. I could see right through her. If I had paid her this time she might keep a clean room for a while but she would probably be asking me to pay her on a daily basis. I don't think I could afford it! I'm sure she's going to start asking for a weekly or monthly allowance some day soon but I need to figure out what she can do and how much money to give her. I think when I was a kid I got .25 for taking out the trash. What do you do with your kids?

Gymnastics

Balance Beam

Springboard
Bridge Up

Straddle hold

Chin Up

Flip

Last week (after constant nudges from Shelby) Shelby returned to gymnastics. She's been out for a couple of years. I guess we got too busy with pre k and kindergarten to do many after-school activities. Anyway, she's back and she LOVES it. Above are some pictures from last week's class. She's so ready to go back today!
